GigXR, a global leader in holographic medical training, today announced a groundbreaking upgrade to its flagship application, HoloPatient. The company is integrating advanced conversational AI into the platform and has officially announced full compatibility with Meta Quest headsets.

Since its launch, HoloPatient has been regarded as the industry standard for volumetric video-based instruction, enabling students to observe and diagnose lifelike holographic patients. With the introduction of conversational AI, GigXR has transformed medical training from one-way observation into two-way, active interaction.

Students can now engage in direct voice conversations with holographic patients, performing tasks such as taking medical histories, inquiring about symptoms, practicing communication skills, and exercising clinical reasoning. The AI-driven patients generate medically contextual responses in real time, thereby enhancing immersion and realism.

While retaining the features educators have long trusted, this update introduces a new level of interactive realism that was previously unattainable. The impact of this upgrade is already evident on the front lines of education; at the University of Georgia, students using the AI-enhanced version of HoloPatient are reimagining the limitless possibilities of clinical training.

Michael Fulford, Assistant Dean for Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Initiatives and Director of Academic Affairs at the University of Georgia, stated: "Students have not only quickly mastered the technology but also gained confidence in the application of AI and XR within healthcare, becoming better adapted to the future digital healthcare landscape. This combination of engagement, confidence-building, clinical imagination, and job readiness demonstrates that XAIR—Extended Reality integrated with AI—represents a powerful direction for the future of healthcare professional education."

Although HoloPatient was already available on Meta’s Quest platform, GigXR has now officially announced formal support for the hardware. This expansion aims to provide healthcare institutions worldwide with easier, more cost-effective access to clinical simulation training resources.

David King Lassman, CEO of GigXR, said: "Our mission has always been to provide the next generation of healthcare professionals with the most immersive and effective training tools. By combining the power of conversational AI with the portability of Meta Quest headsets, we are breaking down barriers to high-fidelity simulation training and delivering a level of engagement that truly prepares learners to handle the complexities of real-world clinical care."

Although HoloPatient was already compatible with the Quest platform, GigXR has now officially announced support for Meta Quest hardware, aiming to further drive the adoption of XR clinical simulation training among medical education institutions worldwide.
