Recently, China’s display industry chain has witnessed a flurry of capital-related activities—ranging from the settlement of control over leading panel manufacturers and the approval of private placements for listed companies to intensive fundraising by upstream material suppliers and emerging Micro LED enterprises. Capital deployment across the entire value chain—encompassing OLED, Micro LED, and smart interactive displays—is accelerating in tandem. Consequently, the industry is shifting from a past focus on mere capacity expansion toward a systematic upgrade characterized by the rationalization of corporate control, capital infusion, technology commercialization, and overseas expansion.
On October 8, Visionox (Weixinnuo) officially announced a private placement plan valued at $448 million, marking the end of the leading Chinese OLED panel maker's years-long status of having "no actual controller." Upon completion of the transaction, Kunshan State-owned Assets will become the controlling shareholder with a 30.33% stake; when combined with parties acting in concert, the total shareholding will approach 40%.
Kunshan State-owned Assets' acquisition of a controlling stake in Visionox signifies the Yangtze River Delta display industry cluster's final consolidation of core OLED panel assets; previously fragmented production capacity is being reintegrated into a more synergistic industrial cluster.
Another key development regarding private placements involves BOE Huacan Optoelectronics. On September 30, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange formally accepted the company's application for a private placement of shares totaling $149 million. The offering will be fully subscribed by the controlling shareholder, BOE, with the net proceeds dedicated entirely to replenishing working capital and funding new business areas such as Mini LED backlighting, automotive LEDs, Micro LEDs, and GaN power devices. This move represents a critical capital initiative within the BOE ecosystem to integrate the LED chip segment and complete the layout of China's entire display industry value chain.
On September 28, CHENZHAN Optoelectronics received official approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) for its private placement of shares, raising US$138 million. Of the proceeds, US$97.1 million will be allocated to the Luoyongfu smart manufacturing base project in Thailand, while the remaining US$41 million will be used to supplement working capital. Upon completion, the project will establish localized overseas production capacity for three core product categories: smart interactive displays, smart interactive all-in-one units, and smart automotive displays.
On the same day, Shanxilaite Optoelectronics disclosed details of a convertible bond issuance totaling $78.4 million; the proceeds will be primarily invested in the construction of new facilities for products such as OLED intermediates and perovskite materials. Another key development in the upstream OLED materials sector involves Shandong Jiumu Chemical. On September 16, the company’s IPO application was approved by the Beijing Stock Exchange; the offering aims to raise $77.7 million to strengthen its market share in the field of upstream OLED materials.
On October 8, WEIJIU Optoelectronics officially announced the completion of a Pre-A funding round raising hundreds of millions. The proceeds will be fully allocated toward the construction of mass production lines, the iteration of core manufacturing processes, and volume deliveries to key domestic and international clients. Currently, the company has achieved mass production and shipment of its 0.13-inch monochrome green Micro LED micro-displays, which boast a peak brightness of 6 to 7 million nits; a new epitaxial production line planned for Beijing is expected to commence operations in January 2027.
In early September, LEIYU Semiconductor officially announced the completion of a $20 million Pre-A4 round of financing. The raised funds will focus on technology product iteration, scenario application verification, and deep cooperation in the industry chain, comprehensively accelerating the industrialization landing of the two core tracks of near eye display and optical interconnection.
China’s advanced display industry has established a solid foundation, commanding a 54% share of the global market; the next phase requires resolving critical bottlenecks in materials and strategically positioning for next-generation display technologies. The wave of financing that spanned the third quarter represents a comprehensive, industry-wide strengthening during a pivotal period of technological evolution: panel manufacturers have resolved long-standing issues regarding corporate control, upstream material firms are leveraging capital to expand production and bolster domestic substitution capabilities, and emerging Micro LED companies are securing industry capital to accelerate mass production—collectively fortifying the sector’s dual foundations of capital and production capacity for global market competition.
