On September 3, 2026, at the ShowStoppers event held during IFA Berlin, AREX officially unveiled its revolutionary augmented reality (AR) diving mask, the AREXONE. The company showcased its latest working prototype at the Berlin Exhibition Center, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the readability of the heads-up display (HUD), the mask's comfort, and its touch controls.
The product is scheduled to launch on Kickstarter on September 22, with a recommended retail price of $1,499.
AREXONE projects diving data directly into the diver's field of view within the mask. Utilizing a transparent optical waveguide and a MicroLED display, it presents information—such as depth, dive time, gas data, decompression status, compass heading, temperature, and alerts—within the diver's natural line of sight. Current specifications feature a 640x480 monochrome green display, a 30-degree field of view, 98% light transmission, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits, ensuring clear readability even in murky waters.
The device supports Freediving, Gauge, Open-Circuit, and Closed-Circuit Rebreather (CCR) modes, and is compatible with Air, Nitrox, and Trimix gas mixtures. It incorporates the Bühlmann ZHL-16C algorithm with adjustable gradient factors and has a maximum rated operating depth of 120 meters. The sensor-based buttons and rotary knob are designed for easy operation while wearing gloves, complemented by vibration and external visual alerts.
The AREXONE ecosystem includes three optional accessories: the TX Pressure Pod (for wireless tank pressure data), a synchronized dive light (featuring spotlight, floodlight, and laser functions), and the Marine ID Scanner—the latter equipped with a 4K camera and on-device AI processing to identify marine life and log encounters. These modules provide room for future software and hardware upgrades.
AREXONE is currently undergoing real-world water testing, and the prototype showcased in Berlin is fully functional; complete product details, app features, and log synchronization tools have been released on the official platform. By deeply integrating AR technology with professional dive computing, this mask promises to redefine how information is interacted with underwater.
